What is a dotwork tattoo
Dotwork is the technique where shading is made with dots instead of solid fill. Where the dots are closer together, the tone gets darker; where they spread out, it gets lighter. The result is a grainy texture with depth and plenty of personality.
It takes patience and control: every shaded area is planned so the transition looks natural and the design reads well both up close and from a distance.
Where dotwork shows up
Geometric pieces and mandalas: precise lines combined with dotted gradients, often on the neck, chest, arm and back.
Compositions and illustrations: animals, natural elements and original pieces where dotwork adds texture to the shading, always in black.
Combinations: dotwork also works alongside other techniques, like whip shading and fine line, in the same project.
How to request your project
With your quote request, send your idea, the placement and references you like. For geometric pieces, it helps to send a photo of the area, since the design is fitted to the shape of the body.
The artist develops the composition and shares the price and estimated number of sessions.
